Meet Dan Sullivan

Dan Sullivan is a dedicated and lifelong resident of Orangetown, New York, running for the position of Town Councilman. As a proud Republican and conservative, Dan’s unmatched experience as Chairman of the Zoning Board has equipped him with the skills necessary to refine and enforce town codes, laws, and ordinances. His efforts are focused on ensuring that Orangetown remains a thriving community for generations to come.

Dan’s journey began in Orangetown, where he was raised in a family deeply rooted in the community. His mother’s family resided in Nyack, and his father’s parents met at the Dominican Convent in Blauvelt before running a restaurant on Oak Tree Road in Tappan. These rich family ties have instilled in Dan a profound love for his hometown and a commitment to preserving its values and traditions.

Professionally, Dan’s career started as a Public Accountant with an accounting firm that specializes in audits of governmental entities. Here, he gained valuable insights into governmental financial and compliance audits, including work with the Town of Orangetown and its school districts. He further honed his skills at a mid-sized regional oil company as a Staff Accountant and later at an economic consulting comapny as a Global Systems Manager, where he managed teams and complex financial systems across multiple countries and currencies. His journey continued at a large global consulting company, where he presently serves as a Senior Director, managing a team of professionals that assist large law firms with financial reporting, system integrations, and data analysis.

Dan’s educational background includes a Master of Business Administration with a dual focus in Managerial Accounting and Information Systems, as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration in Public Accounting, both from Pace University in White Plains, NY. This strong foundation has been instrumental in his professional success and his ability to serve the community effectively.

For over two decades, Dan has served on the Zoning Board of Appeals, with the last ten years as its Chairperson. His tenure has been marked by a commitment to smart and sustainable development. He has worked closely with companies to promote clean, safe commercial projects and attract businesses to Orangetown. Additionally, Dan has collaborated with large landowners to develop housing for younger residents, ensuring a vibrant future for the community.

Beyond his professional and civic duties, Dan is a devoted family man. He is married to his wife, Jen, and together they have built a life centered around community and service. Dan’s involvement in numerous local charities underscores this commitment. As an officer and treasurer of Team KJ, he has raised significant funds for families affected by Huntington’s Disease. He also serves as the Financial Secretary for the Ancient Order of Hibernians and supports the American Legion Post 329. Additionally, Dan participates in Meals-on-Wheels, ensuring that those in need receive essential services. His efforts with Meals-on-Wheels, in particular, have helped ease the burden on those running the organization and expanded the reach of this vital service.

Dan's dedication to the community is also reflected in his recent honor of being nominated as AOH Division 3 Battalion Commander in the 2024 Rockland County St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
